Facilities and resources
Our school facilities
At Richmond Agricultural Centre we offer a wide range of spaces, tools and resources to support student learning. We offer a range of learning environments across both the Western Sydney University Hawkesbury campus and Richmond TAFE.
Design is underway for a purpose-built facility for Richmond Agricultural Centre, to be co-located at the Western Sydney University Hawkesbury campus.
This project proposes to deliver a contemporary agricultural education facility which will be used as a state-wide resource, delivering world class Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.
Whilst the building project is delivered, the Centre is operational from our temporary school and shared facilities on the campus.
The Centre will work in partnership with the University, TAFE, community and industry to deliver its State Programs, available for schools throughout NSW.
The Centre also delivers 60% of the educational programs for the Years 7-10 AgSTEM streams enrolled in the Secondary AgSTEM program. These students also attend Richmond HS for 40% of their learning. At the Centre these students engage in partnered, transdisciplinary learning connected with our expert partners in industry, Western Sydney University, TAFE and community. Students learning is ficussed on delivering High Potential and Gifted Education learning and enrichment experiences to all AgSTEM students.
Throughout our design and construction phase families and community can gain updates regarding the building project from the School Infrastructure NSW website.
Industry partners
The Centre's programs see students from the AgSTEM selective and specialty cohorts, and students and teachers from across NSW immersed with industry leaders, researchers, and new and emerging practices. This ensures the NSW syllabuses are delivered in a manner that actually benefits young people, provides articulated pathways to employment and future studies in industries that have demand as growth industries.
The Centre showcases the opportunities in delivering partnered, authentic, innovative curriculum that excites new and emerging teachers, attracts industry and research partners, attracts enrolments, and provides, most importantly, clear pathways to further study and employment for children without narrowing their thinking to one specific career. The programs and industry partnerships develop academic knowledge and capabilities that have been mapped to a broad range of university degrees, TAFE degrees/diplomas/Cert courses and employment. They have also been verified by work undertaken in partnership with academic/research partners and industry.
The integrated educational model developed by the Centre, as an educational and industry partner on the Hawkesbury campus, has continued to evolve and benefit young people and teachers not only in the AgSTEM streams, but across NSW since 2018/19. The Centre's co-location and integration on the WSU campus is the primary driver to enable these partnerships to facilitate deep learning and educational pathways. The co-location on the Hawkesbury also allows deep integration with NSW TAFE.
