Stage 5 RAC State Programs
The Centre has specialised programs with a High Potential and Gifted Education focus for students from Stages 4-5. Most programs are directly aligned to the Science, TAS, Agriculture, Marine and Aquaculture Mathematics and HSIE syllabuses.
Schools can request stand-alone HPGE Incursion or excursions to the Centre's campus facility.
The Centre prefers to tailor these programs to the contextual learning needs of HPGE students in each school. For further details please email the Centre:

Making rainbows from the storm; whilst we are missing students on the campus engaging with our programs, we are using our time to expedite some projects with our industry partners. One very exciting project we are currently finalising is our partnered learning programs with Broken Bay Pearls and Pearls of Australia. The project consists of interactive programs and excursion/fieldwork opportunities that we hope to be able to launch Semester 2. Our programs are transdisciplinary and will suit Stages 4-6 in TAS, Aquaculture, Sciences, Agriculture and Geography. Here is a sneak peak of our website currently under development to support our programs.
We are currently testing an online cross curricula unit of work focussed on protected cropping and look forward to sharing this with schools in the near future. The unit will cover information aligned to Stages 5 and 6 agriculture, sciences, geography and technology-based courses.
The work is a fully integrated learning unit focussed on protected cropping and the role of scientific research in the future development of the horticultural industry in Australia. Each icon is a discrete learning component, fully resourced with embedded and linked videos, source materials and learning tasks. Each icon contains an estimated completion time. Collectively they represent up to 20 hours of learning.
A quick visual of the unit delivery mode is included here.
Contact the Centre to discuss how you can connect with this unit.
Junior Journalist Program (Ages 5-16 years)
We know across NSW thousands of young people spend their daily lives growing up linked to agriculture. This may be through life on farms or maybe through links to family business including agri-tourism, supply chain and restaurants linked to local producers. They may also actively participate in agricultural shows. We want to provide these young people with a chance to share their experiences whilst providing learning opportunities for others.
Our Junior Journalist Program provides such a platform. The program sees our junior journalists interview their family members about their agricultural businesses, why they chose a career in agriculture and the skills they require daily. Our young journalists also share an editorial about their life in agriculture and their knowledge about their aspect of the industry. Their interviews will form part of our My Life in Agriculture series and will be linked to our learning programs.
